PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) announced on May 8 that it has in in a conditional agreement to acquire 60 percent of PT Huaneng Metal Industry (HNMI). PT HNMI is known to be a plant with high ice nickel (HGNM) conversion facilities located in the Morovali Industrial Park (IMIP), Indonesia.

HNMI processes low-grade ice nickel (LGNM) from the RKEF smelter to reduce iron content and produce HGNM nickel with more than 70 percent HGNM content. HNMI has maintained an an annual production level of 50,000 tons of nickel ice.
